A day by the seaside

Genova, where I've been living for the last two months in the on western coast of Italy. Just after Christmas I had the pleasure of spending a day at the seaside with my host family on an absolutely stunning day. It was also the first time I've been to the beach since I left home almost 5 months ago so I was beyond excited to say the least! Here's some photos :D

A very merry Italian Xmas! (And New Years)

Ah crap... In the back of my mind I knew that I hadn't blogged for ages, but I hadn't realised that its been over a month... Well here's my Xmas and New Years blog.

Well for Xmas my host family had the extended family over for lunch and I swear I've never been so full in my life! I'm pretty sure I ate enough for both lunch and dinner in that one meal! We then got invited to dinner at a friend's house so ended up eating again despite being insanely full! It was crazy but heaps of fun! It's lovely seeing how other cultures celebrate Xmas!

For New Year's Eve, as I don't really have any friends here in Genova and didn't really want to spend New Year's Eve just at my host family's friend's house I decided to brave it out and go out to the seaside where all the New Years countdown and celebration were going off by myself. It was so vibrant and there were a few stages set up with dj's to ring in the new year. I met a few lovely strangers, tried Serbian vodka (for the first and quite possibly the last time.) there were like mini exploding thingys being thrown around on the ground and I swore I was going to get a leg blown off, thankfully both legs are still very much intact hahaha! It was fun, different to anything I've ever done, certainly pushed me out of my comfort zone but it would've been heaps better with friends. Dancing with just strangers just doesn't quite do it for me to be honest!
